The Muppet Roadshow Continues

Sorry for the delay in posting updates, but I was too tight to spend $9.95 a day on paying for the internet.   I didn't mind spending $60 a day on grog though.

We left Dallas last Tuesday (Wednesday Melbourne time) and drove the 800 odd kilometres to New Orleans.   Wasn't long though before Ronnie had to have his Cracker Barrel breakfast fix.   Two pork chops, three eggs and grits.

In the middle of nowhere, saw the biggest Target Distribution Centre you'd ever see.   Had at least 200 semi-trailers parked in the yard.   Then, driving into New Orleans, drove along about 20 kilometres of raised freeway through the swamps.

Checked in to the Monteleone Hotel on Royal Street about 5 pm and met up with Teddy, Luke & Peter Bones.   They'd arrived the day before after delays in LA and Chicago, a 30 hour trip all up.   Mal arrived the next day.

 A nice old hotel in the French Quarter with a ritzy reception and a carousel bar that turns while you sit at it, and then fall off when you're drunk.

The next day we did the touristy things and did a cruise up the Mississippi on the paddle boat 'Natchez' and a mule and buggy ride around the town

   

Today we did the swamp tour.   

 'Crocodil Mal' jumped in and wrestled this one into our boat.

Ron parked his car in a 'No Parking' area and got a parking ticket from this lady who was the local traffic cop.   He followed her down the street and managed to get 10 more tickets before she woke up to what he was doing and waved him on.
